Our Story
Donna AI began with a bold vision: to create an AI-powered legal assistant designed to help small law firms streamline their workflow. Our founders, who met through an entrepreneurship program, spent over a year building this product, onboarding 80 lawyers, and gaining paying customers. However, despite these early successes, we realized that the traction was not strong enough to sustain our initial focus.

Rather than seeing this as a setback, we used it as a valuable learning experience. We pivoted, applying the deep insights we gained from building our legal AI tool to help other organizations manage the growing complexities of AI governance. Drawing from our experience developing AI solutions and overcoming numerous challenges, Donna AI now focuses on AI compliance, risk management, and ensuring that businesses deploy AI responsibly and ethically.

Ciara O'Buachalla, Founder & CEO
Ciara is a commercial and product lawyer with deep expertise in legal tech. Trained in Ireland’s top law firms and holding an MBA from ESADE, she combines legal knowledge with hands-on entrepreneurial experience. As the co-founder of Donna AI, she led the development of an AI co-pilot for small law firms, onboarding 80 lawyers before pivoting the company to focus on AI governance and compliance.

Her unique blend of legal training, business acumen, and tech experience helps organizations navigate the complexities of AI regulation and ensure ethical AI deployment. Ciara also advises private equity firms on legal tech strategies, leveraging her expertise in AI governance and commercial law to drive responsible innovation.
